| Huff Post education,
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/20/high-school-dropout-rates_n_1022221.html, writes that high school dropout rates are significantly higher for minorities than of whites. This education issue is important because non-white students are dropping out of high school more frequently. High school dropouts aren't available for 90% of the jobs, minorities dropping out of highs school is crucial for the economy.

| http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/sats/etc/gap.html proves that SAT scores between whites and students of color and minorities differ. Whites receive higher SAT scores. Not only does race and background factor into scores, but also income of your parents and how they were raised. |
I think that is true one of the biggest problems are that minorities have the highest rate for dropping out. Without having a high school degree it's hard to find a job like McDonalds now of days. Ever since the recession in 2008 even fast food jobs are even harder to get. They are now wanting people at least with there high school diploma. There are people with their Masters and bachelors working retail and fast food restaurants just so they can make ends meat; which makes it even harder for people who don't have any type of degree to find work.
ReplyDeleteWhite teachers need to listen to teachers of color or there needs to be more teachers of color. These articles show that students of color are dropping out more frequently then whites and receiving lower SAT scores. This issue matters. If we want to advance as a country as a whole, then everyone needs to be educated, not just whites. Just because someone isn't white or in the middle class doesn't mean they should be dropping out of school. EVERYONE no matter what race, background, ethnicity, or social class should be able to succeed in life.
